My Story
Hi, I’m Bethany — muralist, painter, explorer and former secondary school teacher who took a leap of faith and swapped the classroom for canvas and canvas for walls.
My Story
My love of art sparked early. I was the kid you’d find glued to the arts and crafts table, always drawing, colouring and doodling… not just in sketchbooks but in my maths books too and anything else too boring to leave undecorated (sorry to my Year 9 maths teacher). That never left me, and I went on to study Fine Art, graduating with a BA (Hons) from Lancaster University in 2019.
University steered me towards conceptual work when painting was where my heart was and it took me a while to find my way back… but that detour taught me exactly the kind of artist I wanted to be.
I trained as a teacher in 2020 (the dreaded covid year) and spent five incredible, intense years teaching art to secondary students, completing a Masters and a year as Head of Art along the way. Teaching gave me so much: patience, resilience and my confidence back. Honestly, if you can hold the attention of a room full of 14-year-olds who treat art as their easy lesson, you can handle just about anything. It’s also where I met my boyfriend Matt, who I have to thank for the nudge to go all in on art and adventure.
In January 2026 we left to travel Southeast Asia… Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia. For me, travel and art go hand in hand, and everywhere we went found its way into my work.
It was there that murals pulled me back in. I’d always dreamed of painting my own, so on a whim I reached out to a few Facebook groups in Thailand… and ended up painting wall after wall. Something just clicked. My path felt clear, and the muralist era began.
So here I am, building my life as a professional muralist full time and now in our next chapter in Australia. There are so many more walls to paint, and I’d love for you to follow along.
